Hard Red Winter Wheat
Soft White Winter Wheat
Hard White Winter Wheat
Gary (ID550)
Idaho 2001 release from Ed Souza at Aberdeen. A semi-dwarf adapted for rain-fed
production. Good dual purpose quality, bread baking and noodles. Lower ash
content than other varieties available. High yielding in regional dryland trials,
but limited testing in the Treasure Valley. Highly resistant to dwarf bunt, moderate
adult plant resistance to stripe rust, moderately resistant to leaf rust and modeately
tolerant of snow mold.
Ivory (OR850513)
OSU Kronstad 98 release. Weaker straw than Stephens. Sister lines evaluated
during the 99 and 2000 seasons.
Kronstad "The thing that is interesting about this wheat is that even at lower proteins, it still produces a nice product for some noodle types. This seems to be good at lower or higher protein levels, which is a very strong positive for it." Souza-it has low polyphenol oxidase activity which means it doesn't discolor readily and stays bright.
WA 7835
Approved for Preliminary Breeders Seed Increase in 97. Excellent yield potential
in WA dryland, better than Eltan and Madsen. Good noodle quality but decision pending on
further quality evaluation.
