Rapeseed, Canola & Mustard Field Day

Plant Science (Parker) Farm

Off the Troy Highway, Moscow, Idaho

Plot tours include:

     Ø     Pacific Northwest Canola and Mustard Variety Trials.

Ø     Examining the effect of seeding date, seeding rate and nitrogen application on yield and quality of Oriental mustard, brown mustard and the new classes of canola-quality Brassica juncea.

Ø     Straw management practices of straw burning, mowing and harrowing and their effects on direct seeded winter canola and on spring canola, Oriental and yellow mustard.

Ø     The efficacy of using seed insecticide treatments to control early season (flea beetle and diamond back moth) and late season (cabbage seedpod weevil) insect pests in canola and mustard.

Ø     Weed control in Oriental and brown mustard.

Ø     Biopesticidal effect of mustard seed meal in controlling weeds in strawberry production.

Ø     Phytotoxicity of mustard seed meal on horticultural trees, perennial flowers and bulbs.

Ø     Developing high quality low cost Biodiesel from Brassica crops.
